Synthetic felt from Ideal Felt

Synthetic felt consists of one or more types of synthetic fibres such as polypropylene, polyester, polyamide, acrylic, viscose, aramid, glass or ceramic fibres, as well as metal fibres or recycled fibres, each of which have their specific properties. The fibres are mechanically intertwined in a needle-punch process, which is why synthetic felt is also known as “needled felt.”

The type and proportion of the fibres chosen to make synthetic felt determine the resistance to certain chemicals, extreme temperatures or specific mechanical working conditions.

Ideal Felt and its customized synthetic felt

Ideal Felt offers a large number of synthetic felt varieties, made of different fibres and treated in different ways:

  • In different thicknesses: from 2 to 20 mm;
  • With different densities: from very soft to very firm, from 50 to 6,500 g/m²;
  • In different colours: white, grey, black and many other colours;
  • In different materials: PES, PP, PA, VS, acrylic, para-aramid and meta-aramid, Teflon®, recycled fibres of natural and synthetic origin, glass fibres, ceramic fibres, metal fibres or a combination of fibres;
  • In different forms: rolls (as of 2 metres wide), sheets, filter bags or sleeves, or customized
  • With different treatments: smooth or rough, soft or rigid, hard on one of the two sides or in the mass, flamed (singed) or satinized (softer or denser surface by lamination) on one or both sides, with internal or surface membrane, impermeable or waterproof, oil repellent, flame-retardant, antibacterial, antistatic, covered with a Teflon® membrane, self-adhesive and anti-slip
  • In different colours.

In a word, we adapt our synthetic felt entirely to your needs.

Advantages of synthetic felt

Adapted to your needs and to your sector

Its intrinsic strength properties and adaptability make synthetic felt ideally suited for a wide range of applications in many sectors:

  • Metallurgy: synthetic felt, usually made of 100% polyester, is chosen in this sector because of its high mechanical resistance and is used as a brake in cutting machines and lines for steel, copper, aluminium and other metals;
  • Automobile and packaging industry: its remarkable resistance to extreme temperatures and certain chemicals makes synthetic felt an ideal material for protective purposes;
  • Synthetic felt is also used as insulation, in the glass sector, for filter applications, substrates for constructions, packaging, agriculture and horticulture, ponds and swimming pools.

Synthetic felt: a light and inexpensive solution

Many wall panels contain a substrate such as MDF, developed with a fabric covered with foam or adhesive materials. This entails a long and expensive production process with several raw materials and a cumbersome workplace.

Synthetic felt offers a concrete solution to all these shortcomings. Its thin structure, adhesion method and usability as a double or single surface make it a versatile material that can be integrated in thin frames.

We can also provide separate technical sheets on our different synthetic felt lines upon request. Want to know more about the applications of our felts? Do you have specific needs? Contact us without hesitation.
